A city located in southwest Lubbock County, Texas, Wolfforth shares a boundary at Alcove Street with the City of Lubbock. Wolfforth is part of the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population was approximately 3,600.

History

Michael S. Acuff, the town's namesake, moved to the region around 1891. In 1902, the first school was constructed in the community. In 1942, the community's children were enrolled in the Roosevelt school. Acuff eventually became a part of the Roosevelt district in 1947. The town had its first post office between the years 1903 to 1912. The Maines family, including Lloyd Maines and his daughter Natalie Maines, is descended from the Acuff area. During the 1950s, one church served as a place of worship for both Baptists and Methodists. In 1989, the Church of Christ was the only congregation in town. The majority of the present landowners are descendants of the original settlers.
